Shinsokan to practice the four immeasurable minds

'This is not a Shinsokan Meditation to seek blessings for yourself but a prayerful meditation to remove the pain and suffering of all beings. Therefore, it is not egotistical at all, and as a result the benefits to you will be greater than in a self-centered meditation. Please meditate as follows:

I now leave the world of the five senses and enter the world of God.
God's sea of infinite wisdom (repeat it several times),
God's sea of infinite love(repeat it several times),
God's sea of infinite life (repeat it several times),
God's sea of infinite abundance (repeat it several times),
God's sea of infinite joy (repeat it several times).

My mind is one with God's infinite love and the Four Immeasurable Minds of the Buddha and it spreads throughout space, permeates the universe, and reaches out to all beings, seeking to remove their suffering, lessen their pain, bring ease and comfort to their life, and grant them joy.

My mind is one with God's infinite love, the Four Immeasurable Minds of the Buddha, and it further spreads throughout space, permeates the universe, and reaches out to all animate and inanimate beings on earth, seeking to remove their suffering, bring them ease and comfort, protect their diversity, and grant them joy.

All beings have been relieved of their suffering, their pain has been lessened, their life has been made easy, and they have been blessed with joy. Thank you very much. Thank you very much.

Already, all lives on earth have been relieved of their suffering, ease and comfort have been brought to their life, their diversity has been protected, and they have been blessed with joy. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. "

Prayer for World Peace

I

"God’s infinite love
flows into us,
and shines forth from us
as a brilliant spiritual light of love.

This spiritual light of love
grows and grows in intensity,
covering the entire world,
and filling in the hearts of everyone
with thoughts only of love, peace, order
and the Truth of Oneness under God."

After Shinsokan Meditation: delicious lunch

Wednesday morning the ladies from the SNI centre meet at 10:30am and does the Shinsokan prayers and read the sutra and does some exercise till lunch. Last Wednesday, Mrs. Atsuko Yoshinaga decided to share her Monja recipe with us and cooked it on a large electric circular frypan.

She prepared some vegetables beforehand 1/2 cabbage, chopped small 2 green onions, handful of shrimp, handful of green nori, small fish eggs, 2 -3 sliced cheese.

She fried these in oil stirring constantly and when done, she opened up an area in the centre and had 3 cups of dashi soup, 1 cup flour, 2 tbsp. of worcestershire sauce, and mixed it up with the cooked ingredients. It appeared like scrambled eggs when it was finished but it tasted good and Mrs. Kuromi brought a ague rice which the rice was flavoured in shoyu and mirin and sugar. Takkuwan and rounds of small toasted french bread with blueberry and strawberry jam. A delightful lunch with 7 of the ladies and apparently they do this cooking session every so often.

Here's some pictures of the event. Satoye

Remembrance Day - Stanley Park - November 2011

Here are the pics I took today of Remembrance Day Ceremony for Japanese Canadians at Stanley Park.

The Master of Ceremony was Gordon Kadota, for those who can recognize him. Among the guests were Consulate General of Japan, Hideki Ito, JCCA's president Ron Nishimura, VPD Mounted Squad, RCMP, and representative from National Nikkei Centre. Tom who had placed the wreath represented Seicho-No-Ie was among the few representing its own organizations.

The SNI people who had attended the ceremony were Mrs Akitaya, Tom, Mr. Kitasaka, Mr. Wada, Sachiko, Ruby and Bernie. We all met at SNI church by 10:00am. Sachiko, Bernie and I got a ride with Akitaya-san in her car and Tom gave ride to Kitasaka-san and Wada-san. Since Akitaya-san and Tom had previously attended the Remembrance Day at Stanley Park, they knew where to go.

It was my very first time participation for the Japanese Canadian War Memorial although I've attended others in the past. Therefore, we were warned beforehand to dress warm. I wore a long-john underneath my thermal pants, knee high boots, undershirt, turtle-neck sweater, water-proof windbreaker jacket, wool hat, leather gloves and an umbrella.

As in most years, during the memorial service it rained then when it was over, rain had stopped!! Following the ceremony, we were all invited to a reception at Vancouver Rowing Club. I thought that we were just going for a hot coffee or tea to warm ourselves but we were served futomaki, age zushi, sandwiches, manju, cakes and other sweets, much to our delight !!!!

I'm planning to do this again next year, rain or shine!

Thank you very much!
